Whether you send employees around the globe or cross-country to events or to meet with clients, you need a Business Travel Awareness Guidance Program, now more than ever.

Be it swift and sweeping regulatory changes, geopolitical changes, civil unrest, disease, or even restrictions on traveling, today’s business environments change rapidly. You need a plan for when even seemingly minor events disrupt your business and your employees.

Just in the last few weeks, we have seen changes such as the TSA not allowing laptops and other devices onboard flights internationally. Domestically you may have to check your laptop into your luggage as they are looking at no longer allowing it as a carry-on. BTW, if you’re headed to Israel and have anything shady posted on your social media – your laptop may end up like this. That’s not a shot at Israel, it’s a warning that once you leave the U.S. well, let’s just say you’re not in Kansas anymore.

In China, during times of epidemic outbreaks, they have been known to quarantine foreign travelers in their hotel. They will check temperatures at the airport, not allowing anyone who has a fever to board a flight.

Even kidnappings abroad are becoming more frequent, especially among American business executives. Most people might be thinking of Mexico and South America, but I am talking about Europe.

Trips to remote locations in Africa, Asia, or even Arabia where people become ill with novel or rare diseases. Now we are even seeing taking a trip to the Gulf-Coast, Florida, or West Coast could subject you to rare diseases such as Chagas or Zika.

Not to mention just the normal travel headaches, lost luggage, delayed or missed flights and connections, authorities seizing laptops, travel documents, and any other myriad of travel issues.

Isn’t it time you had a 21st century program for our 21st century globally connected world.

We think so too. That’s why we created our Business Travel Awareness Guidance Program #BTAG program.

Ask yourself these questions about your company:

  • Do you send employees around the globe?
  • Do you have a plan for when they get sick, trapped or hurt in another country?
  • What if they go missing at home or abroad?
  • What if they fail to show up at a meeting with an important client?
  • What do you do if they request ransom?
  • Would you allow someone returning to the office the next day after being around people who were severely ill in another country?
  • What if they get killed or died because of a business trip?
  • What are you planning to do, when time is limited?

If you’re not sure how to answer any of these questions or even how to begin the conversation around these types of topics visit Continuitycorp.com/BTAG
